After running on a platform centered around “Cleaning Up Albany,” a phrase that became almost synonymous with his campaign, it turns out Andrew Cuomo isn’t the force for change he led us to believe. According to a New York Times expose, Governor Cuomo’s hand-picked Moreland Commission, a group tasked with tackling public corruption New York state, met an untimely demise when they started to investigate an organization with ties to his election campaign. Cuomo had explicitly stated the commission had the power to investigate his office:

The commission clearly has the legal authority to look at anything they want to look at including the Governor, the Attorney General, the Comptroller, etc…

As Jon Stewart puts it: “New York’s governors have two halls: Shame and Fame, and one of them is very crowded.”
