The election is not over yet, but super PACs already broke their fundraising record. They’ve collected over $1 billion in contributions, shattering the 2012 total of merely $853 million.

These super PACs want to influence both the congressional and presidential races. They are pumping millions into TV ads and other outreach tactics – and according to a Washington Post article, there is another wave of cash coming.

A full 20% of the $1 billion raised by these super PACs comes from ten incredibly wealthy individuals. They fall on both sides of the political aisle: 5 are Republicans, 4 are Democrats, and 1 is an independent.
